Efficient non-data-aided carrier and clock recovery for satellite DVB at very low signal-to-noise ratios

چکیده
This paper deals with the analysis and design of efficient non-data-aided clock and carrier (frequency/phase) synchronization algorithms intended for use in satellite digital video broadcasting systems employing turbo-coding techniques to enhance power efficiency. The above issue appears quite challenging in view of both the extremely low signal-to-noise ratio, typical of turbo-codes operation, and the very short time allocated to the acquisition of synchronization parameters. These constraints rule out most conventional clock/carrier recovery schemes and demand a careful search for specific, highly efficient algorithms. In the paper, we propose and analyze a clock/carrier synchronization scheme capable of operating at values of 0 as low as 1 dB with lock-in delay not exceeding 50 ms.

Comparative Performance Analysis of Symbol Timing Recovery for Dvb-s2 Receivers
The need for reliable broadband satellite communication services has led to the development of the second generation DVB spec, DVB-S2. This paper considers the performance of a feedback Symbol Timing Recovery technique, which is based on the Non-Data-Aided (NDA) Gardner Timing Error Detector (TED), in an all-digital DVB-S2 IF receiver architecture. The Symbol Timing Recovery performance is meas...

In this paper, we implement the robust demodulator for mobile broadband satellite internet access systems. Especially, in order to achieve the good synchronization under very low SNR, a large frequency offset, and Doppler frequency offset with constraints of mobile satellite communication, we introduce the efficient carrier freq. offset estimating algorithm and the carrier phase estimating algo...
متن کاملSignal-to-Noise Ratio Estimation Algorithm for ACM in Advanced DVB-RCS Satellite Systems
This paper presents a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation algorithm for advanced DVB-RCS systems using adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) in the reverse link of broadband satellite systems. Due to the absence of a repetitive pilot symbol structure, SNR estimation has to be performed using the fixed symbol preamble data. Moreover, sporadic nature of data traffic on the return link causes va...
متن کاملDesign of robust carrier tracking systems in high dynamic and high noise conditions, with emphasis on neuro-fuzzy controller
The robust carrier tracking is defined as the ability of a receiver to determine the phase and frequency of the input carrier signal in unusual conditions such as signal loss, input signal fading, high receiver dynamic, or other destructive effects of propagation. An implementation of tight tracking can be understood in terms of adopting a very narrow loop bandwidth that contradict with the req...
متن کاملIterative APPA Symbol Timing Recovery for Turbo-coded Systems
This paper examines the problem of symbol timing recovery and decoding in turbo-coded systems. The large coding gain of Turbo-codes enables reliable communications at very low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). However, the application of turbo coding exacerbates the problem of timing recovery due to its very low operating SNRs. Therefore we propose a new concept: ‘apriori probability aided’ symbol t...
